Hugh Swandel

Mr. Swandel is an active member of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association (ELFA), the Canadian Finance and Leasing Association (CFLA) and is currently a member of the National Equipment and Finance Association (NEFA) Board of Directors. In 2006 Hugh Swandel received the Canadian Leasing Industries highest honor when he was named “CFLA Member of the Year.” In June of 2008 Mr. Swandel was named the UAEL “Member of the Month” in recognition of his contributions to the association and its membership.

Prior to founding Swandel and Associates, Hugh served as President and Chief Operation Officer of Electronic Financial Group (EFG). EFG was a Canadian company, which built and launched a multi lending web based credit system.

Mr. Swandel spent 10 years with National Leasing Group in a variety of senior positions. National Leasing Group is a privately held Canadian Lessor which has won numerous awards for excellence in management and innovation.

Hugh Swandel has extensive North American Contacts in the leasing industry and a strong reputation as an effective negotiator of win/win agreements involving acquisitions, business development, securitization and most other matters of significant importance to Lessors.


Murray Derraugh

Murray Derraugh has over 25 years of management experience in both the manufacturing and the financial services sectors. Prior to starting his consulting practice, Mr. Derraugh was Director of Portfolio Management for CUETS, the MasterCard affiliate for the Credit Union system that also serviced the President’s Choice MasterCard program. In this role Mr. Derraugh managed credit, collections, payment services and credit application processing centres in two cities and was responsible for the profitability of the Credit Union portfolio.

Mr. Derraugh spent over 7 years at National Leasing Group in a variety of roles including Director of Credit, Western Canada Sales Manager, and General Manager of Vision Credit, National’s subprime credit division.

Murray Derraugh is currently the editor-in-chief of the Canadian Lease Education On-line (“CLEO”) program for the Canadian Finance & Leasing Association. Mr. Derraugh and Mr. Swandel together brought this education program to Canada from the United Association of Equipment Leasing, revised the content for use in Canada, incorporated Fleet Leasing into the Equipment Leasing program, and modified the material for use in a virtual classroom setting.

Mr. Derraugh has also managed software conversion projects, performed operations reviews and analysis, market entry analysis, and created custom sales training programs for lessors in both the United States of America and Canada.
